What you need to know about Sapa, Vietnam

Today I would love to share you another must-see place in Vietnam. It is Sapa in Lao Cai Province, Vietnam.


Sapa is located in the North West of Vietnam, 315 km far from Hanoi. It is well-known for its beautiful landscapes with terrace fields, water falls, Fansipan Mount of 3143m high, often called as the "Roof of Indochina", and colorful and rich cultures of various ethnic minorities such as Black H'mong, Red Dzao, Dzay, Tay and Xa Pho groups.


So how to get to Sapa?


There are two major ways to get to Sapa i.e. by night train or by bus.


By train, it will take you 8 hours from Hanoi to Lao Cai city and vice versus.

Tourists are highly recommend booking tickets with popular train companies such as Dream Train, King Express, Pumpkin, Orient Express, Livitrans, Fansipan Express, etc. Cabin of 4 people with soft berths and AC are advised to book.

When you arrive in Lao Cai city, you can take a coach in front of the train station to get to Sapa Town. The fare is about 5 usd/ticket/person. You also can book the pickup service at cost of 5 usd/pax. The guide will hold a sign under your name and wait you at the train station when you arrive. Then, he/she will transfer you to your hotel in Sapa. It take 1 hour for the bus transfer to the Sapa Town
 

Travelling by bus has been becoming more popular so far since the Express Road Hanoi – Lao Cai was put into operation in 2013. The travelling duration is shortened to 5.5 hours. Most of the buses are in high quality, so it is very confortable.

Some of good bus companies which are highly recommended are Sapa Express, Green Bus, Dragon Express, Fansipan Express, Interbusline, Shuttle bus, Hung Thah, Queen Café, etc.

Halong Bay full day questions and answers

There are many options for Halong Bay full day tour i.e. 4 hour cruise and 6 hour cruise.

1. What activities are included?

Highlight activities are:

  • 50 usd/person if you take the option bus goes 1 way exisitng road and 1 way express road
  • 55 usd/person if you take the option bus goes 2 ways express road.
  • 75 usd/person if you take the premium Halong Bay cruise and bus goes 2 ways express road

TRA QUE VILLAGE BIKING TOURS AND COOKING CLASS

Overview

Tra Que is a charming little village on the edge of Hoi An, the village is famous for its sweet scented and fresh vegetables that spice up on the daily meals of Hoi An people: Cao Lau and Quang noodles. Come here, you will have a chance to discover the art of cultivating and water plants, tasting and doing a cooking class with local dishes prepared by friendly host.




ITINERARY

8:00 -8:30 Pick up from hotel and start biking tour to Tra Que Village

You will cycle to a local farm in Tra Que village. A short stroll will take you around the vegetable garden and then you can join the farmers in preparing the land and fertilizing it with seaweed from the local lake. following steps are raking the ground, sowing, watering, picking vegetables and many other gardening activities. after all these activities, you will take a short rest and enjoy foot bath before getting to preparing lunch with a local family.

Your lunch will consist of many local delicacies including ‘Tam Huu’ spring roll, Banh Xeo or local pancake of people in Vietnam middle region. you can join the cooking with the chef on these meals. After your morning excursions and your lunch, you will take a Vietnamese traditional post-prandial nap before learning how to harvest and wrap the vegetables.
